Lymphedema is a chronic condition in which one or more extremities become swollen when the lymphatic system is damaged or not functioning properly. Breast cancer surgery is a common cause of upper extremity lymphedema. Specialized therapy includes manual lymph drainage, exercise and compression bandaging. Mount Carmel's physical and occupational therapists provide specialized treatment for people with injuries or illnesses of the skeletal system, muscles, tendons and soft tissue. We provide specialized therapy for neck and back pain, shoulder tendonitis/impingement, rotator cuff injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, knee and ankle sprains, arthritis and hip, knee and other joint replacements.
We also offer a pre-operative class for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles in the pelvic area. Common pelvic floor diagnoses treated include prenatal and postpartum musculoskeletal dysfunction, urinary and fecal incontinence, constipation, pelvic and abdominal pain.
