Curriculum
The Ohio State University-Mount Carmel Health Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program offers a comprehensive educational experience that addresses the full spectrum of OB/GYN practice. Residents emerge from the program with competency in a broad range of OB/GYN specialties, as well as significant hands-on experience with a variety of patient populations and practice settings.
Mount Carmel Grove City assignments:
- Labor and Delivery Team: PGY-4 and PGY-1
- Benign Gynecology Team: PGY-4 and PGY-1
- Night Float: PGY-1 and Rotating PGY-3 or PGY-4
- Clinic/Research: PGY-2
Mount Carmel Saint Ann’s Assignments:
- Labor and Delivery Team: PGY-4, PGY-2 and PGY-1
- Benign Gynecology Team: PGY-4, PGY-3 and PGY-2
- Night Float: PGY-2 and Rotating PGY-3 or PGY-4
All residents rotate through the Mount Carmel Grove City program two to three months per year, either for four to six weeks at a time through two rotations or for a continuous two to three months.
- Clinic is held every day. High risk Obstetrics clinic is held on Tuesday Mornings and Coloscopy clinic is held on Thursday Afternoons.
- Deliveries during the day are supervised by a faculty Generalist.
- Deliveries at night and weekends are supervised by the general OB/GYN staff at Mount Carmel.
- There is a weekly dedicated surgery block for the clinic that is staffed by faculty.
- We have 4 - 6 medical students rotating through OB/GYN at Mount Carmel at any one time. Our residents, therefore, have an opportunity to teach students from OSU
