They emerge more than doctors and colleagues; they become strong assets to the field of family medicine.

Grant Huber, DO

- Why I chose Mount Carmel: Being raised in Westerville, I’ve always had my eye on St. Ann’s. The diverse population, including the large immigrant population, that is served at this hospital attracted me having immigrant parents. I had an extremely positive experience on my interview day. It was a warm and welcoming environment, with everyone being encouraging and supportive. There is a variety of opportunities that will prepare me to be the physician I dream.

The Faculty and Residents were all incredibly kind and the environment was very supportive, the kind I prefer to learn in. Being in an unopposed program was important to me as well, as I plan to practice full spectrum primary care. There's also a big focus on community outreach with the programs like street medicine and a very strong mission to serve the poor. Columbus is also a great city to be in and it's only a short drive to see my family.

The street medicine track also caught my attention, and I am confident that it will prepare me to take care of every aspect of my patients’ health when they find themselves in difficult circumstances. - Why I chose Mount Carmel: There’s no place like home! After extensive travel throughout medical school, I sought to return to Ohio for postgraduate training. The unopposed patient-centered FM program incorporates full spectrum family medicine with community and global medicine which peak my medical interests. The Mt. Carmel Directives align with my convictions regarding the dignity of human life and a commitment to caring for the underserved. Additionally, Westerville is a quaint, charming town with no traffic just outside Columbus, Ohio, where there’s a plethora of resources and specialty programs in the vicinity in addition to great parks and restaurants.
