The rigors and responsibilities of the program test each resident's knowledge, skills and experience. As a result, they find something within themselves and one another that will serve them throughout their careers. They emerge more than doctors and colleagues; they become strong assets to the field of family medicine.

  • Hobbies: Our fur babies keep me and my husband busy - walks with our bernedoodle puppy and cuddles with our cat while watching Disney movies. Outside of the love we have for our pets, we have an extensive collection of board games for regular game nights with friends and family!
  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: Born and raised in Dayton, I love Ohio! Mt Carmel provides full spectrum family medicine training in multiple settings including St. Ann’s, Nationwide Children’s, and the VA Care Center all while remaining in Ohio.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because of my previous rotations and my experience on interview day. Throughout 3rd and 4th year, I had a number of rotations with Mount Carmel in various departments and I was always impressed. On my interview day, although it was virtual, I was able to get a great feel for the program, the faculty, and the residents. I knew this was where I wanted to be trained.

Having grown up in the Cleveland area, it has long been a passion of mine to serve the community in Ohio. The Columbus region has a diverse population which fosters an environment for holistic learning and patient care.

The faculty go above and beyond when it comes to making you feel like an integral part of the team and Columbus is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. Mount Carmel also has many diverse training experiences that will help me develop into a balanced physician with both inpatient and outpatient expertise.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel for a multitude of reasons. From day one and throughout the interview process, everyone was extraordinarily kind, easy to talk to, and very down to earth. My interview felt like I was catching up with old friends, rather than a formal conversation. Additionally, the program has a strong women’s health influence, which is important to me, is very community medicine driven with opportunity for community outreach, has an expanding osteopathic influence, and the program design allows residents to tailor their education and become well-rounded family physicians.

  • Why I Chose Mount Carmel: During my interview, one of the current residents described the environment as “pure light”. She said that not only are the buildings beautiful and open, but so are the people. They are open, friendly, and warm and strive to promote health equity to the community that they serve.

  • Why I Chose Mount Carmel: As a Columbus, Ohio native I wanted to serve the community in the capacity of a resident family physician. When I interviewed with Mount Carmel, I immediately felt comfortable talking with all of the faculty and residents. I was also drawn to the program because it is an unopposed residency.

  • Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I have a strong connection to Westerville as an alumni of Otterbein College. During my medical school rotation at St. Ann’s, I was impressed with the multidisciplinary approach to both patient care and resident training, including on-site pharmacy and behavioralist support. In addition, the strong inpatient training prepares residents to manage varying levels of acuity.

  • Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel for several reasons. Their commitment to providing care to marginalized populations is unparalleled- especially with the opportunity to serve those experiencing homelessness through their Street Medicine program. Additionally, every person I interacted with on my interview was one of the kindest, most genuinely interested people I came across on the entire interview trail. I left that interview day knowing that I had found my next home.

  • Why I Chose Mount Carmel: I chose Mount Carmel because I was looking for a residency program with well-rounded training experiences and supportive residents and faculty. Living in Kentucky, I never had the chance to rotate at St. Ann’s Hospital. However, several of my friends from other medical schools had great experiences on clinical rotations with Mount Carmel. The location was also appealing to me as Westerville is a beautiful town just outside of Columbus.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel: Being raised in Westerville, I’ve always had my eye on St. Ann’s. The diverse population, including the large immigrant population, that is served at this hospital attracted me having immigrant parents. I had an extremely positive experience on my interview day. It was a warm and welcoming environment, with everyone being encouraging and supportive. There is a variety of opportunities that will prepare me to be the physician I dream.

  • Why I chose Mount Carmel:  When I interviewed with Mt. Carmel, I felt welcomed from day one. The Faculty and Residents were all incredibly kind and the environment was very supportive, the kind I prefer to learn in. Being in an unopposed program was important to me as well, as I plan to practice full spectrum primary care. There's also a big focus on community outreach with the programs like street medicine and a very strong mission to serve the poor. Columbus is also a great city to be in and it's only a short drive to see my family.
