Impact Insider, News and information from Mount Carmel Foundation

Welcome to the first issue of the Mount Carmel Foundation’s newsletter, Impact Insider! Each month, we’ll be sharing the latest information about how we are improving the health and well-being of our communities through the generosity of our donors and partners. We hope you enjoy learning more about the impact you make possible.

Tauana McDonald, FACHE, named Mount Carmel President and CEO

Earlier this month, Tauana McDonald was named CEO and president of Mount Carmel Health System. She begins her new role on July 1. With Trinity Health since 2003, McDonald joined the Mount Carmel system in 2017 as chief administrative officer. In 2020, she was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Mount Carmel Grove City.

McDonald’s appointment makes her the first African American woman to be president and CEO of a health system in Central Ohio, as well as the first to lead the Mount Carmel system in its 138-year history.

“I’m thrilled to begin this new role and continue partnering with our incredible colleagues and staff in building on the momentum we’ve created here at Mount Carmel to advance our Mission,” McDonald said. “I’ve come to call Columbus home and am honored to serve the needs of the Central Ohio Community.”

McDonald will join the Foundation board later this year.

Volunteer’s make a positive impact

In April, Mount Carmel celebrated both Volunteer Recognition Day and National Volunteers Week. While these annual recognitions are meaningful, volunteers at Mount Carmel make an impact every day, all year around, by providing invaluable services to patients and visitors that we may otherwise not be able to provide. They bring a personal and compassionate touch, serving in various capacities through the health system.

Mount Carmel volunteers find a sense of purpose, community and connection in their roles at our health system. This year, more than 400 volunteers worked 33,500 hours supporting exceptional support to our patients and colleagues. Thank you for your service!

The capital campaign to support Mount Carmel Dublin is underway now. The campus is scheduled to open in April 2025.

Tour groups are limited to 10 people, to make sure everyone has a chance to hear and see everything easily, as well as ask questions along the way. If you are interested in joining a future tour, please contact Senior Development Officer Deborah Carvalho.
