While out for the evening at a local restaurant, Dan W., RN, BSN, administrative unit manager at Mount Carmel West, noticed a fellow customer collapse after standing up from his seat.

When other patrons yelled for help, Dan sprang into action. He knelt at the man's side and, when he couldn't feel the man breathing, checked his pulse, gave him some breaths and began rubbing his chest to stimulate breathing. When the man began to respond, Dan encouraged the man's girlfriend to stay calm and keep talking to him. Dan stayed with the patient and his girlfriend until the paramedics arrived.

We thank you, Dan, for your kindness and service both inside and outside Mount Carmel's walls.
