Mount Carmel New Albany is a specialty hospital focused on inpatient and outpatient orthopedic, neurologic and musculoskeletal care. The hospital features technologically advanced treatments combined with a unique caring and service philosophy tailored for each patient.
Our two-story facility includes 117,668 square feet, 60 patient rooms and ten operating rooms. And since patient comfort and convenience are hallmarks of our hospital, we make a number of additional amenities available as well, including high-speed Internet access; a full-service café with at-your-request room service; flat screen television monitors and DVD players, on which you can watch our pre-operative education programs and your own personal DVDs. Among the other convenient amenities at Mount Carmel New Albany are a relaxing patient and family atmosphere, serene, on-campus nature trails and an on-site gift shop.

Awards & Recognition
For the fifteenth straight year, Mount Carmel New Albany has received the Guardian of Excellence Award from national healthcare research firm Press Ganey Associates for sustained excellence in patient care. Just being considered requires a three-year ranking in the 95th percentile for patient satisfaction. We’re proud to rank in the 99th.
Mount Carmel New Albany is one of a select group of hospitals in the United States to receive certification from The Joint Commission for our joint replacement program. The two-year certification requires that we comply with national standards; use appropriate, evidence-based clinical practices; and collect and analyze key performance measures for joint replacement. Both the hospital and our staff met or exceeded each standard during our review by the commission and continue to do so.
Thanks to the dedication and achievements of its physicians and staff, Mount Carmel New Albany has received disease-specific certification in spine surgery from The Joint Commission. With the two-year certification, MCNA joins a select group of hospitals in the United States that has met or exceeded Joint Commission standards for spine surgery.
Research & Education
With our commitment to quality medical care, compassionate dedication to service and enthusiastic willingness to teach, Mount Carmel New Albany conducts and sponsors research in the fields of orthopedic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, pain management, and physical medicine and rehabilitation; provides educational programs for patients, physicians and healthcare providers; and incorporates research and education into orthopedic and neurologic prevention programs.
The Mount Carmel Education Center is also located on the hospital campus. It’s a fully integrated facility that includes a conference center that offers versatile space for meetings, lectures, receptions or networking events. The Education Center also includes a Bioskills Lab which allows surgeons, vendors and representatives the opportunity to learn surgical procedures on fresh tissue, to perfect techniques prior to actual surgical intervention, and to explore approaches that minimize trauma during surgery. The lab is linked by audio and video to the rest of the Education Center.
