Welcome to Mount Carmel Graduate Medical Education. On behalf of the program directors, faculty, residents, fellows and staff, it is our distinct pleasure to present our residency and fellowship programs to you. We are proud of our rich history, mission to compassionately serve, and be a healing presence for those who are less fortunate and seeking excellent care. For many decades, Mount Carmel Graduate Medical Education has been educating residents in a unique environment involving 3 different hospitals, each serving a distinct patient population. Because our residents and fellows rotate within a multitude of environments, we can provide them with a much broader clinical experience to best prepare them for the future.

Mount Carmel GME Programs

The Mount Carmel Family Medicine Residency offers a strong family medicine education. We emphasize holistic care through our community outreach.

The program provides a wide range of clinical experiences to prepare our residents for their chosen practice environment. The first year emphasizes inpatient management and core subspecialty rotations, while the second and third years focus on progressive experiences in the outpatient and subspecialty settings.

The Ohio State University-Mount Carmel Health Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency Program thoroughly prepares residents for active participation in all aspects of medical practice. Residents are encouraged to develop personal and professional responsibility and autonomy while being guided to success by caring, experienced faculty. What follows are specific highlights of our program:

The Mount Carmel Health System Orthopedic Residency Program has been in existence since 1945. It is a 5-year program that is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The residency program offers three positions per year and participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

The Mount Carmel General Surgery residency training program offers a fully-accredited 5-year program designed to qualify residents for the American Board of Surgery examination and Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons. The surgical program is non-pyramidal and has 18 residents: three categorical residents per year and three preliminary interns.
