Mount Carmel College of Nursing Welcomes Dr. Todd F. Ambrosia, DNP, MSN, MBA, FNP-BC, FNAP, as President

 

Columbus, OH - Mount Carmel College of Nursing (MCCN) announced today the appointment of Dr. Todd F. Ambrosia, DNP, MSN, MBA, FNP-BC, FNAP, as its new President. Dr. Ambrosia, a recognized nurse leader with nearly 25 years of experience, will begin his tenure on May 7, 2023.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Ambrosia’s leadership at Mount Carmel College of Nursing to guide the next generation of students as part of our 115 legacy years of nursing education,” said Lorraine Lutton, President and CEO of Mount Carmel Health System. “His expertise and passion will help elevate Mount Carmel College of Nursing as an innovative academic center preparing nurses for the workforce, and one of the most trusted partners in health care.”

As President, Dr. Ambrosia will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to continue growing and expanding MCCN's legacy of excellence in nursing education. He brings with him extensive experience in advancing interdisciplinary programs in research, education, and practice, launching new academic programs, increasing enrollment and student retention, and growing revenue.

As a board-certified family nurse practitioner, Dr. Ambrosia is active clinically in adolescent and young adult primary care and has established research and academic collaborations with universities in Italy, Taiwan, Colombia, Belgium, India, and Malaysia. He is also a staunch advocate for global health promotion. He regularly provides volunteer clinical services to underserved adolescents and young adults in high-need areas nationwide and worldwide.

Dr. Ambrosia is a distinguished fellow of the Academy of Nursing of the National Academies of Practice. He is active in several other professional organizations, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Assembly of Men in Nursing, and the Advanced Practice Network of the International Council of Nurses.

Before joining MCCN, Dr. Ambrosia served as Vice President of Nursing Academic Affairs and Dean of the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. He also previously held positions as Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Associate Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing, and as a Program Director and Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Dr. Ambrosia holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Ambrosia will succeed Dr. Allan Hoffman, Ed.D., CHES, who served as Interim President of MCCN and will continue until Dr. Ambrosia's arrival in May. Under Dr. Hoffman's leadership, MCCN has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2023 Best Online Program and was awarded more than $1.4 million in January 2023 for graduate student scholarships. Several strategic partnerships and alliances have also been established that have positively helped program expansion and significantly impacted enrollment growth.
