Maternal Fetal Medicine

Welcome to Mount Carmel's Maternal Fetal Medicine Program. Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialists are OB/GYNs who undergo an additional three years of specialized training in the assessment and management of high-risk pregnancies. Physicians who practice Maternal Fetal Medicine are also known as perinatologists. Your OB provider may have referred you to one of our providers in order to serve you and your baby's health needs. We focus on the medical and surgical management of high-risk pregnancies, including fetal procedures such as percutaneous umbilical blood sampling and intrauterine fetal transfusion. We also care for women with routine pregnancies by performing specialized ultrasounds.

In addition to expert physician care, we offer consultations with medical geneticists, a genetic counselor, a diabetic nurse educator and practitioner, a fetal care nurse, a neonatologist and support groups if you would like extra information and emotional support during a complicated pregnancy.
