Because You Needed To Focus On Your Recovery

Last year, Barbara R., a rehab specialist in the Inpatient Rehab Unit at Mount Carmel West, took the initiative to gain her church's support in creating a new program called "Help Your Neighbor." The program's purpose is to provide support to Mount Carmel West patients with severe impairments from brain and spinal trauma, who need more than just physical and emotional support when they're discharged from our care. The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin jumped at the opportunity to provide financial assistance, food and clothing.

In November 2014, Barbara R. and Grace S., a social work case manager in the Mount Carmel West Inpatient Rehab Unit, helped their first patient outside of Mount Carmel West's walls. Through the church's assistance, they were able to provide the patient one month's rent as well as Giant Eagle gift cards for groceries.
