Heart Treatments
Because non-surgical options are safer and more effective than ever before, Mount Carmel and our board-certified interventional cardiologists can offer you more choices for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
It starts with our rapid triage process and special response teams, which allow us to make critical decisions quickly and consistently perform better than both the national and state benchmarks.
We offer a variety of diagnostic and interventional services to provide you with high-quality, efficient care – even in complex, high-risk cases. Some of those treatments include:
Angioplasty
Our highly trained physicians are experienced not only in traditional balloon angioplasty to treat narrowing or blocked coronary arteries, but also in advanced techniques like cutting balloon angioplasty, in which tiny blades are inserted to open difficult blockages.
Stent Placement
Mount Carmel interventional cardiologists are experienced in using stents (tiny mesh tubes) in combination with balloon angioplasty to open blocked arteries. In fact, we have labs dedicated to this technique and advancing stent technology.
Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) Closure
We can repair this heart defect using the Amplatzer PFO Occluder – a closure device made of wire mesh discs and a polyester fabric that’s delivered through a catheter and placed over the opening.
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement is a revolutionary new treatment for patients with severe, symptomatic aortic valve stenosis. It allows our cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists and general cardiologists to collaboratively replace heart valves without open-heart surgery.
