Pharmacy Residency
Pharmacy Residency Purpose Statement
PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY-2) Pharmacy residency training.
Program Description
With our mission statement in mind, we believe pharmacists are essential members of a multidisciplinary team, working together with other health caregivers to provide the best care to our patients. The resident will be exposed to a wide range of patient populations and given an opportunity to work concurrently as a clinician and educator. Our goal is to teach, model, coach and facilitate the residents' ability to be independent and render the best care to our patients. The Post Graduate Year one (PGY-1) residency at Mount Carmel Health System is an advanced training program structured to develop and hone a resident's Communication and clinical skills in order to become a confident, competent pharmacist who ho can provide effective pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting, as well as to set the foundation to pursue a PGY-2 residency and/or faculty position. We hope the mission of our organization will be a guiding principle to our residents as they utilize the skills they have acquired.
